Penentuan Dosis Penggunaan Kapur (CA(OH)2) pada Penentralan Air Minum di Instalasi Pengolahan Air Minum Ogan

Water is a very important substance for all living things. Producing good water quality were through a treatment process. The Regional Drinking Water Company (Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum/PDAM) TirtaMusi Palembang processes Musiriver water into clean water in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No.492 / MENKES / PER / IV / 2010. The Musiriver wateras a source of raw water was added by Aluminum Sulfate (Al2(SO4)3) to become clean water. The addition of the Aluminum Sulfate (Al2(SO4)3) coagulant could reduce the acidity (pH) to less than 6.5. This is not in accordance with the standard requirements for drinking water pH, namely 6.5 - 8.5. Therefore, it was necessary to add lime (Ca(OH)2) to increase the pH of the water so that it reached the standard requirements. Thus, it was necessary to determine the appropriate dosage. Determination of lime dosage was carried out through a series of processes including: determination of lime content with the alkalimetric acid titration method, lime pH analysis, determination of lime residue content, and then determination of the dosage of lime usage through the neutralization process. The results of the analysis showed that the lime content of CaO was 55.88%, the lime content of Ca(OH)2 was 73.85%, the pH of lime was 12, the resulting residue was 0.1577 gr / lt, and the lime concentration of Ca(OH)2 1000 ppm as much as 4 ml could increase the pH of 1 liter of drinking water up to 7,2 which was suit to standard requirements for drinking water.
