Laboratory of Microbiology is an essential supporting infrastructure in supporting the success of health student’s learning. The presence of bacteria found in the Microbiology Laboratory is often the cause of contaminants in the sample, so that incorrect results can occur in bacteria identification. One of the most frequently contaminating bacteria is Staphylococcus sp. This study aims to identify the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis which contaminated the Laboratory of Microbiology of Politeknik Kesehatan Dr. Rusdi. The research method was descriptive with laboratory observations. The samples of this study were all bacteria that grew on the surface of MSA media placed in low light intensity, high light intensity and near the air conditioner. The results of bacterial identification obtained were Staphylococcus sp bacteria with Gram-positive characteristics in the form of cocci, clustered resembling grapes, capable of fermenting mannitol and color changes in MSA media. From the results of the catalase test, all bacteria showed positive catalase, so it can be concluded that the bacteria obtained were Staphylococcus aureus.
