The management of employee certification is one of the important components for companies or organizations in ensuring compliance and quality of employees according to standards in the work environment, especially sensitive industries such as the oil and gas industry. PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan Zona 4 has difficulty identifying employee certification status according to changing validity dates and sending notification of the validity period notification and reminder to immediately renew certification. Therefore, this study proposes the design of innovative information systems by applying a Design Thinking approach to overcome these problems. The Design Thinking method involves a deep understanding of user needs consisting of 5 stages, namely Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test stages. Use Case Diagrams and Activity Diagrams are applied in the ideate stage which serves as an overview of ideas or solutions for the design of this application. The result of this system design will be a solution to face the problems faced.
