In the current digital and information technology era, inventory processing is the
main key for an agency, both government and private, to maintain efficiency and accuracy in
its operations. PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Division III Palembang as part of
the transportation industry needs to have an integrated and effective inventory information
system to manage assets and goods used in daily operations. This study aims to analyze and
design a web-based inventory information system that can support inventory processing
including data collection, recording, monitoring, and reporting. Data collection methods
used are interviews, observation and literature study. The system development method used
is the SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) which consists of the planning stage, the
analysis stage, the design stage, the implementation stage and the maintenance stage, but
the implementation and maintenance stages are not included in the development of this
system. The results of the analysis show that the design of this inventory information system
can facilitate the IT unit of PT. KAI (Persero) Regional Division III Palembang in inventory
processing so that data can be stored properly, able to manage data collection in the form of
recording incoming and outgoing goods, recording borrowing and returning goods, and
preparing reports quickly, precisely, and saving time. This research is only in the form of
designing a web-based inventory information system to provide recommendations to
agencies.
