Peat soil is soil that contains high organic matter which is formed by piles of plant residue in layers that reach a thickness of more than 30cm. Peat has a production function, water storage, habitat for biodiversity, protection and economic functions. Peat maturity greatly determines the level of peatland productivity, because it greatly affects the level of peat soil fertility and nutrient availability. The peat structure that is relatively mature is also better, so it is more profitable for plant growth. The purpose of this study was to determine the maturity level of burnt peat in the revegated area of Limited Production Forest (HPT) in the sub-district of Kayu Agung, Oki Regency, South Sumatra. This research uses the observation method. The soil sample observed was dried first. After that, put it in a syringe with a volume of 10ml or 25ml. Then it is pressed and sieved and the volume is measured. Based on the above observations, it is known that the peat soil in the Kedaton area is classified as sapric (<15%). Peat soils that have a sapric maturity level indicate that the peat soil has a high organic matter content and is in a completely decomposed state as indicated by an average intact fiber content of 12%.
