The use of pesticides in developing countries, including Indonesia, is currently increasing. Pesticides that are used excessively and not according to procedures by farmers can cause poisoning and even in the long term can cause cancer. This study aims to identify risks, assess and control health risks to farmers due to exposure to pesticides in agricultural areas. This research is an observational study using the HIRARC method. The research subjects were farmers who applied pesticides. Data were collected by interview and observation, while data analysis used a risk matrix from the Australian Standard. The results of risk identification were carried out on three activities that farmers often carry out, namely before, during, and after pesticide application, with a mild to moderate risk scale. Risk control according to the potential hazard and risk scale matrix with administrative control and use of personal protective equipment. Conclusion: Risk control using the HIRARC method can be used as a preventive measure because the potential hazards have been identified and analyzed. The associated risks are assessed, appropriate controls can be suggested and implemented.
