Keragaman Spesies dan Etnobotani Tumbuhan Mangrove Di Kawasan Hutan Lindung Air Telang Kabupaten Banyuasin

Research has been done on the diversity and ethnobotany of mangroves in the Air Telang Protected Forest Area of Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra in July to August 2015. The purposed of this study was to determine the diversity of woody mangrove species and the ethnobotany aspects of each species. This study used descriptive survey method by exploring directly in the mangrove forest area. Sampling is done randomly in transects perpendicular to river flow. The results of the study found mangrove plants from 6 families, 8 genera, and 8 species: Avicennia alba Blume., Bruguiera cylindrica (L.) Blume., Excoecaria agallocha L., Nypa fruticans Wurmb., Oncosperma tigillarium Ridl., Rhizophora apiculata Blume., Sonneratia alba Smith. and Xylocarpus granatum Koen. Species obtained are generally the true mangrove type except O. tigillarium which belongs to the association mangrove type. The mangrove plants obtained in this study were used by the community for various things such as building materials, charcoal/firewood, food (fruit, seeds and tubers), fodder (leaves), fishing equipment and wound medicine.
