Indonesia is one of the wealthiest natural resources counties in the world thanks to its extensive oil and gas reserves, most of which are located in watery regions. With an estimated 1,512,466 square kilometres of a watershed, Indonesia is home to at least 5,590 major rivers and 65,017 smaller tributaries. The river is one of the essential means of subsistence for many Indonesians. Natural resources encompass a wide variety of biological resources, all of which are used to advance the community's economic and social well-being. River water pollution, however, caused by mining, drilling, or extracting oil and natural gas resources is pollution with immediate consequences for the community. The Indonesian government's Ministry of Environment and Forestry has developed a maximum allowable fat-oil content for environmental discharge to reduce pollution as much as possible. However, Regional Government and PT or industry-related companies are the spearheads in preventing and overcoming environmental pollution. The prevention of oil spills in marine waters can be improved, integrated, and made more thorough with the help of multiple relevant agencies.
